M43 Field Service Cap

Despite the obvious service wear and later afflictions to this Heer M43 Field Service Cap, we should not overlook the scarcity and appeal of this particular example.
A good large size of perhaps 59 cms, the cap shows overall loss to the field grey wool nap coupled with a number of moth nips along the back of the side flaps. On the left side are the remains of what appears to be a name, now faded and impossible to decipher.
The flaps are secured by two painted buttons above which sits a very good BeVo weave trapezoid eagle and swastika with rosette.
Inside, the rayon lining is without stamps and shows wear at the front and sides.
In my view a typical POW worn example from the months prior to the end of hostilities when insignia was still worn in the camps.
