WW11 Fleet Air Arm Flying Helmet. Early Two Strap
Known during my early collecting days as a Navy C Type, popular opinion now refers to these helmets as Type N.
Whatever your preferred title may be, this is a very nice example of the first wired variant without the rear wiring support straps, and is without doubt of wartime manufacture.
The helmet is perhaps a size two and fits nicely on a male mannequin head for display. Overall condition is very good with the leather lovely and soft and without damage. Inside, the chamois shows use with a small area of surface wear inside the right ear. Both zips function perfectly and all stitching is firm and intact.
Complete in every respect, the Helmet has a nice chocolate wiring cord with a purple fleck and two receivers sitting below black rubber sponges. Added to this configuration is a good pair of Gosport tubes.
