Close Combat Clasp in Bronze

A very fine to excellent example of a Close Combat Clasp in Bronze.
Awarded to those who had completed at least ten days close combat, this clasp is completely without damage or wear to the high points and without loss to the bronzed finish.
The detail is outstanding with fine definition overall including the pebbling where the wreaths beneath the bayonet and Swastika finish.
On the reverse the hinge block is forged directly on to the badge with a brass pin holding the “coke bottle” pin in place with the locking hook and plate seemingly formed in two pieces. The raised lettering indicates the designer of the badge Wilhelm Peekhaus whilst at the other end we see the details of the manufacturer Arbeitsgemeinschaft Metall und Kunststoff, Gablonz.
An exceptional example and one which would prove difficult to upgraded
